Patagonia becomes “exclusive” apparel sponsor to Spring Creek
Patagonia is known world wide for their commitment to the environment hence their "Committed to the Cause" ethos , so I'm extremely honored to announce that Patagonia has become the latest sponsor for Spring Creek: Ranchers, Anglers, Water and Trout. Patagonia is one of the very few fly fishing companies that "talks the talk and walks the walk" when it comes to conservation. You don't have to look any further than "1% For the Planet" to realize this. "Since 1985, Patagonia has pledged 1% of sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment. We've awarded over $40 million in cash and in-kind donations to domestic and international grassroots environmental groups making a difference in their local communities. In 2002, founder of Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, and Craig Mathews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies, created a non-profit corporation to encourage other businesses to do the same." Patagonia is launching a new 60 piece fly fishing collection for Spring 2011, including the new Rio Gallegos wader, the Gunnison Gorge wading pant, Stealth hip and chest packs and the Rock Grip boot. See the post below for more info!
I'd like to thank all the people at Patagonia who have showed their support for the Spring Creek project, starting with Ross Mailloux, Bill Klyn, Brian Bennett and Bart Bonime. I look forward to working with all of you during the project. I encourage all anglers, next time you buy a piece for fly fishing gear ask "what exactly is this company doing to help the environment". I think you will be surprised by the answer. I know I was.
